Pack/Middleton Stream Team Hike - Sun Nov 4th 1-3PM

Posted on Nov 3 2012 - 10:04pm

This is the MST/Pack family hike. It is not the Webelos/Troop hike.

The hike will be from 1-3PM. Let's meet at 12:50PM at the 2nd Pasture on North Liberty Street. That's 1.1 miles north of where N. Liberty Street begins at the School and Liberty Street intersection.

What to bring: Warm clothes, water, snack, camera, and a zip lock bag to carry any items the scouts mike find.

Middle Stream Team's Hike Highlights:

Hike Territory - The meadows, forests, uplands and beaver ponds in the wilderness of northern Middleton
Start and Return Times: 1 PM and 3 PM - Be there five or ten minutes before the hike begins. Note Standard time will be in effect.
Start and Return Location - Gateway to 2nd Pasture on unpaved section of North Liberty Street
Hike Themes - Adventure, discovery, history, life of the beavers and life of the early settlers
Adventure Highlights - Beaver dam crossings, glacial sculpture of the land, high location visibility of large beaver impoundments, the foundation for an early settler farm home, and visit to the rarely seen granite marker where Middleton, North Andover and Boxford come together.

The MST wants this to be a fun and learning adventure for the Cubs (and everyone) so they suggest that Cub parents talk with their boys ahead of time about what they may see and learn. Some Cubs might want to bring small close-able plastic sandwich bags for things they find on the hike. Other things to bring might include water and camera.

It looks like the time slots are all full at this point but if you would like to Blitz your neighborhood with popcorn in hand we can set you up with a kit that you can take and sell - or if you have an idea of where to sell let the Popcorn Kernel know and we can help set you up.

Popcorn Sales Sheets DUE AT NOVEMBER PACK MEETING

Please, Please, Please - we must have all Popcorn order forms turned into Popcorn Kernel O'Neill on or before the November 7th Pack Meeting. There is still a lot of popcorn to sell so if you haven't had time to canvass your neighborhood you only have a couple of weeks to get out there and SELL, SELL, SELL. Every sales is very profitable to the scouts and helps support all that we do. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all who have been out there selling!

Youth Protection Training, Monday Nov 12, 7:00pm at the cabin

Posted on Oct 11 2012 - 8:50pm

Youth Protection Training is being provided by the Great Eastern District Monday November 12 7:00pm at the troop cabin. All scouters and parents are invited to attend this 1 hour training and become YPT certified. Please let me know if you will attend so we can plan appropriately. Coffee & tea will be provided.

The leaders of Middleton’s Pack and Troop consider the safety of our boys as a top priority. In support of that, we take Youth Protection seriously. All leaders must be YPT certified; No exceptions.

o We encourage all parents to attend and become YPT certified as well. You will learn how we ensure the boys’ safety through two-deep leadership, and how we need to respond if we feel that any boy’s safety has been compromised.

o For many Troop 19 and Pack 19 leaders, their two-year YPT certification is expiring this fall. You must recertify before the end of the year to remain a leader in the pack or troop.

o For other leaders, their two-year certification is expiring in the new year. You may wait and recertify at that time (no problem) or recertify now and be covered for the next two years.

Please let me know if you will attend so we can plan appropriately. Any questions, please contact Joe Lackie 978-771-2540 or packtrainer@middletonpack19.org.
